Gifts at the Engagement Party? Question: My sister in law is having
an engagement party on Sunday. We have been informed the other side of the family is bringing gifts to the party. The party will be Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. I am unsure as to whether it would be proper to bring a gift. I have been to other engagement parties and do not remember gift giving. My Mother in law , the brides mother is unsure of what to do as am I. DS Dear DS It is certainly proper to bring a gift to any special occasion,
including engagement parties. However, it is not required and rarely expected. An engagement party is often given six months to one year before the wedding. Gifts can be as simple as a lovely bouquet of flowers to be enjoyed during the evening or as practical as the ever needed toaster oven. Have a great time at the party!!
Sincerely,
