76. This idea was my fathers and it was a surprise to me! Just as my father and I were about to do our dance to "Daddy's Little Girl," my uncle set up a video screen, which no one noticed because all eyes were on us. As we began our dance, a slide show started with pictures of me as a baby and family members, some of who have since passed away. The pictures followed through the years, to end with an engagement photo of my husband and me. There was not a dry eye in the
room! Dawn 77. It is becoming harder and harder to come up with an original idea to make the bridal couple kiss during the reception. For years, we've witnessed the ever-popular glass clinking and then we started seeing guests singing songs of love to serenade the couple to kiss. For our wedding, my fiancé and I are thinking of taking on the newest custom that my sister started at her wedding two
years ago. Seeing that the clinking gets to be annoying and that not everyone is comfortable with singing, she decided to do the following: She placed three (arbitrary number) hats on the head table at the beginning of the reception and explained the purpose to everyone. If anyone wanted the bridal couple to kiss, first they had to step up to the head table and place a hat on their own head. Then it was up to the guest either to kiss someone
else or perform. To illustrate the principal, my sister asked my fiancé and I to demonstrate. We went to the table, I put on the hat and then I kissed him. In turn the couple kissed. Later on, other guests started coming up to dance, sing, drink water out of a glass while standing on their head, kiss and at one point a small line of guests formed in front of the head table. One person had the hat on and kissed the person next to them. Then that person donned the hat and kissed the next
guest in the line and so on... Pretty soon there were about fifteen people kissing each other, which meant that the bridal couple had about fifteen kisses to give each other. It was a lot of fun!!! Everyone really got into it since it was so easy and there were so many choices of things you could do. I think this idea is great for anyone looking for something new and will bring a smile to your guests' faces! Gabriela Pedroso and Chris McCun
78. I want my husband-to-be's talents expressed at our wedding (he is an artist), so one thing we are doing is replacing the wishing well that guests drop cards into with... a replica of the chapel we are marrying in! I took pictures of the chapel, both interior and exterior, and he is using these to make a wooden replica. The front doors will be open, and you can look inside to see the bride and groom at the front.
This view only goes a few inches back. The roof is hinged so guests can drop cards in the top. I am really excited about this because it can easily be displayed in our home and remind us of this important day in our lives. *Also, instead of having RSVP cards, I thought of a money-saving tip. I created a website for our wedding, and an email address specifically for that to RSVP by, which is listed on the
invitation. We also opened a voicemail box so those who don't have a computer can respond this way instead. So far it is working great! More Unique Wedding Ideas Next |
